MUS wants to help grow the Umpire profession by providing a low stress environment along with multiple training sessions to allow individuals to get a taste of Umpiring.
The purpose of this program is to provide anyone ages 12 years or older with a passion for baseball, softball and/or youth sports an opportunity to be introduced to the noble profession of umpiring. This introductory program will provide new umpires with a basic fundamental training on how to be an umpire and a more relaxed environment in which to hone their craft. MUS Umpires will participate in basic introductory training and then officiate MUS Classic Baseball or In-House Softball games for the Spring Season. Through this program, MUS Umpires will be providing a valuable needed service to Millard youth baseball and softball players while getting the chance to make some cash in the process! More importantly, as MUS Umpires gain experience and develop confidence, they will have the opportunity to move on to more advanced games (older age groups, competitive divisions) to earn more money!
MUS Umpires will be paid according to the age of the games umpired starting at $15 per game plus a concession coupon for post-game refueling. MUS Umpires will be provided with a flexible schedule and an umpire jersey by MUS.
MUS Umpires are required to have their own equipment to umpire ages 9-14. Those younger less experienced Umpires that only umpire ages 7 & 8 will have communal equipment provided at the fields. MUS will have an option to purchase equipment directly through the organization or you can find your own. There will also be a buy back/return option for those that do not want to keep the equipment you purchase.
