About Tackle Football

The League:  MUS has partnered with the Great Plains Youth Football League (GPYFL).  This league gives teams the ability to attend tournaments outside of the league, participate with regional and national travel teams, and compete with other Eastern Nebraska & Western Iowa teams at the highest levels.  Although teams will have the flexibility to play outside of the league,  it is required that they play ALL league games as scheduled.

The opportunity for MUS to partner with the Great Plains Youth Football League is highly beneficial for the long term success of our football program. MUS is excited to be a part of this league and look forward to growing with it in the future.

2022 Program Members include: Archbishop Fremont Bergan Jr Knights - Arlington Jr Eagles - Ashland/Greenwood Jr Bluejays - Auburn Jr Bulldogs - Council Bluffs Colts - Conestoga Jr Cougars - Creighton Prep Jr Jays - DC West Falcons - Ft Calhoun Pioneers - Fremont Jr Tigers - Gross Jr Cougars - Logan View Raiders - Malone Panthers - Monarch Spirit - Norfolk Rampage - Norris - North Bend Jr Tigers - Plattsmouth Jr Blue Devils - Ralston Jr Rams - Roncalli Jr Pride - St Wenceslaus/St Stephens Knights - Wahoo Beef - Wahoo Rhinos - Waverly/Eagle Jr Vikes - West Point Jr Cadets

Our Divisions: are based on grade levels for the 2024-2025 school year.

  • Parents can elect to have the child play up one grade level.

Our Season: Games typically begin in late-August and the season goes through October.

  •  Teams will play 5-7 games during the regular-season and 2 post-season
  • Games may be played on Saturdays or Sundays
  • 2-3 games per season may require some minimal travel to games outside of the immediate Omaha area
  • Practice times & locations are set by coaches and MUS does not keep track of team practice schedules. Please contact coaches for practice schedules. Practices typically don't start until August; most teams practice at least three times per week.

Pre-and Post Season Play: Teams may participate in pre and post-season tournament play.    The option to travel for tournaments is at the discretion of the coach, players and parents involved and the costs and timelines will be discussed with the parents who may accept or decline to participate. Families choosing to participate in any additional tournaments with their team will be responsible to pay their portion of these expenses. Teams may have the opportunity to fundraise to help cover the extra costs of these additional tournaments.  Please note, additional tournament costs are not covered by your registration. Any player who chooses not to participate is not penalized for not participating.

Our Coaches & Teams: Roster Updates will be given to coaches throughout registration with rosters locked on September 1.
